AYIN ENSEMBLE
Mevlevi Sema Ayin study, Turkish Vocal Technique. For those instrumentalists and singers experienced in Turkish Music. Ability to read musical notation is recommended.

NEY & MELODY INSTRUMENTS
Instruction in Ney technique by a Master Neyzen of Turkey. For players of the Turkish Ney and other Melodic instruments such as Oud, Tanbur, Violin. Intermediate through advanced in Turkish Classical Music.

PERCUSSION
Turkish style Bendir (Frame Drum), Kudum (Kettle Drums), and Usul (Turkish Rhythms). For all levels. Some Bendir available for loan during class. Percussion instruction continues into Instrumental Ensemble.

INSTRUMENTAL ENSEMBLE
Percussion and all Turkish Melodic instruments, ensemble work on Saz Semai and other Classical forms. For all instrumentalists,including Percussion, continuing into Ilahi Ensemble play.

ILAHI ENSEMBLE
Singing and playing some of the vast ilahi repertoire of devotional songs of Turkey. For instrumentalists experienced in Turkish Music, and singers of all levels including Ney, Percussion, Oud, Tanbur, Violin, Vocals, Devotional Songs and Ensemble.

DATES and TENTATIVE SCHEDULE –  November 14-17, in Pinole, CA

Thursday, & Friday, November 14th & 15th

Supplemental Session 1:30-3 PM
Main Sessions 3 PM-8 PM with break and tea

Saturday, November 16th

Main Session – 12 noon until 5 PM with a break and tea.

Sunday, November 17th

Main Session – 12 noon-3:30 PM with a break and tea, followed by a Public Concert

Sunday, November 17th – 7 PM 

Public Concert –  Timuçin and US musicians
Sunday at 7:00 PM

A musical “Meshk” concert evening
Admission included for all full-time workshop participants.
Suggested donation: $15-$20 at door

COST:

Tuition for 4-day workshop: $355 (includes admission to Sunday concert)
Partial attendance: $100 per day
Tuition for adding Supplemental Sessions:
$50 per daily class/$80 for both days.

ASSISTANCE for those who would like to come, but need some help:

  • Student and youth (25 and under), senior
    citizens (65+) some discounts available.
  • Partial work-trade and payment plans may be available
  • Please consider donating, as you are able, to our scholarship fund!

Please specify your intention to attend (full 4 days, single days and supplemental sessions) and you will be sent an invoice. Participants may register and pay with check or cash at the workshop as well. Please notify us of your intention to participate.
